With the means of art Alex Hanimann explores different pictorial worlds. These can be political or private photographs from the 1970s, the time when the artist grew up, or images of animals that emerge from photo-traps set up in the forest. What happens when existing footage is taken out of its historical or functional context and presented as an autonomous work of art?
Alex Hanimann and Ludwig Seyfarth talk about forms of artistic appropriation of images and the complex relationship between humans and animals.

Ludwig Seyfarth, art journalist and curator, lives in Berlin. Since 1987 he works as a freelance author. Teaching assignments and visiting professorships at various art colleges. In 2007 he received the ADKV-ART COLOGNE Prize for Art Criticism. He is a curator and artistic consultant for KAI 10 | Arthena Foundation, Dusseldorf and Secretary General of the German Section of the International Association of Artistic Artists AICA.
