«Digitaler First Friday»
Mit Philipp Zöhrer

For four years now, First Friday has been bringing visual arts together with music and performance. Every first Friday of the month the Kunsthalle Darmstadt additionally opens in the evening and invites musicians and performance artists to perform. In order to continue to offer them a platform, First Friday is now coming to your home in video form.

As an artist and musician, Philipp Zöhrer is interested in moments and atmospheres of collective ecstasy that a dancing audience gets into, for example. Empty rooms, like those created everywhere by the corona epidemic, attract him equally. He takes us to the Wachau church ruins, which are in his chosen city of Leipzig. Exclusively for the Kunsthalle Darmstadt, the backdrop is accompanied by a mix of post-punk and wave music, the hypnotic sound of which takes you back to mythical times.

Philipp Zöhrer (* 1995 in Wasserburg a. Inn) is a photography student at the University for Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig and co-founder of the Fonda exhibition space in Leipzig.

Let yourself be taken on this journey on February 5th at 8 p.m. on the YouTube and SoundCloud channel of the Kunsthalle Darmstadt.
