Planet 9

In 2016 Konstantin Batygin and Michael E. Brown postulated the existence of a ninth planet with an orbit of 10,000 to 20,000 years. While astronomers search for it, it becomes a metaphor that artists from many parts of the world bring into real and fictional life. Their works, many of which are specially designed for the Kunsthalle Darmstadt, occupy rooms of varying sizes and time slots. Thus the cluster of exhibitions, performances, interventions, screenings, readings, conversations, and more always looks different, similar to the planetary system that is just emerging. The exhibition ‹Planet 9› shows works by artists from more then 17 different countries.

The participating artists are:
Waref Abu Quba, Nazgol Ansarinia, Ulrich Becker, Willarson Brandt & José Montealegre, Cao Fei, Raphael Danke, Nathalie Daoust, Katja Eckert, John Gerrard, Lauren Gregory, Helga Griffiths, Mila Hundertmark, Emre Hüner*, Franziska Koop, Rosilene Luduvico, Basir Mahmood, Eoin Mc Hugh, Mei Le, Radenko Milak, Klaus Mosettig, Juan Osorno, Nira Pereg, Vera Röhm, Roy Samaha, Regina Silveira, TextaQueen, Xiang Yang und Xu Yong & Zi U.
