Lisa Gutscher is presenting a site-specific installation in Studio West, consisting of readymade objects and mooring lines that are tensioned with the exhibition space. The sculptural elements are furnishings that the artist has borrowed from the German supermarket chain LIDL. Building on Gutscher’s artist residency in Japan in 2022, ‹mitateru› - «to liken one thing to another» refers to concepts of Japanese philosophy that perceive individuals, architecture, and environment as interconnected. The exhibition plays with these ideas in the form of a participatory choreography.
Lisa Gutscher (*1991) lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. In 2023, she completed her studies in Fine Arts at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste – Städelschule as a master student of Judith Hopf.
