The trained photographer Kai Ruhland dissolves the classic boundaries of art genres with his work. In his artist book Ideality he questions the way people perceive their reality. The smooth, reflective and at the same time transparent foils of the book show printed matte photographs. The translucent pages of the book cause the depictions to be put together again and again as you leaf through them.

With his installation X, Kai Ruhland extends his experiment with the photographic medium. He takes the photograph out of the artist's book and into the museum exhibition space. Carefully draped, printed glass panels lean against branches that seem to be randomly arranged in the room. The moss-covered canes mediate between the fragile glass surfaces and the sterile exhibition spaces.
